What Is There to Do in Enid?'

OnCue employees receiving PRIDE training

ENID, Okla. -- OnCue Express LLC, a convenience store chain that has three locations in Enid, Okla., is sending 20 employees to a program to trainthem to tell visitors what is going on in Enid, Okla.--the Enid PRIDE program.

Enid PRIDE (Producing, Resourceful, Informed and Devoted Employees) is a customer service and Enid familiarization program for employees who interact with the public regularly. The program is delivered through a partnership between OSU Extension, Enid Regional Development Alliance, Enid Chamber, Enid Convention & Visitors Bureau and Main Street [image-nocss] Enid. The purpose of the program is to deliver customer service training for front line employees and provide an answer to the question, "What is there to do in Enid?"

"They've realized the importance [of the program]," Stan Ralstin, organizer of Enid PRIDE and an Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service community development specialist, told The Enid News & Eagle.

Enid PRIDE provides training sessions for company employees who act as a sort of "frontline" for the community, said the report. These are employees who visitors may first meet when they come into town, it said.

The program trains these employees to be able to tell these visitors what is happening in Enid so they can go to events and spread the word about Enid to places outside the area, the report added.

"OnCue is a great community partner wherever they're at," Brent Kisling, executive director of Enid Regional Development Alliance, told the paper. "They've been a big proponent of the PRIDE program statewide, so it's no surprise they're getting involved here."

Rob Houston, communications coordinator for Enid Convention & Visitors Bureau, told the News & Eagle, "It's a very good sign. I think it shows that people are investing in their community, and it shows there is some pride coming back to the community."

Added Ralstin: "One of the main parts [of the PRIDE program] is to get people to understand the community. We try to hold training at different venues so people can experience that."

Enid PRIDE training sessions are two hours long. The cost for members of Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Enid and Enid Regional Development Alliance is $5 per employee. The cost for other companies is $10 per employee.

Stillwater, Okla.-based OnCue has nearly 40 c-stores located throughout Oklahoma, as well as one store in Kansas.
