Wilson Farms' 'Night Light'

And Town Pump's big grill

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. -- Wilson Farms Inc. has become the first local presenting sponsor for the Western New York & Finger Lakes Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night walk fund raising campaign.

Rochester's Light the Night walk will be held at Monroe Community College on September 28. Buffalo's walk will be held at Delaware Park on October 5.

Light the Night is the society's nationwide evening walk and fundraiser to celebrate and commemorate people whose lives have been touched by cancer. Participants [image-nocss] carry illuminated balloonswhite for cancer survivors and red for supportersbrightening the sky along a one to two mile walks taking place in Rochester and Buffalo.

To help raise funds and create awareness of the upcoming walks, Wilson Farms will sell Light the Night paper balloons for $1. Sales will also include blood cancer awareness wristbands ands and large balloons for a $5 donation. The balloon and awareness band sales will be available from now until October 6 at all Wilson Farms, Sugar Creek and Wilson Farms Xpress locations.

In addition to the sales of the paper ballons, Wilson Farms will hold a special coffee day on September 12, when a portion of the proceeds of coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate and tea sold will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

September marks the annual observance of Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma Awareness Month. Funds raised for Light the Night help support blood cancer research and local patient aid and services.

Williamsville, N.Y.-based Wilson Farms currently owns and operates 199 Wilson Farms, Sugarcreek and Wilson Farms Xpress c-store and gas station locations across New York.

Separately, the crew at Butte, Mont.-based Town Pump Inc.'s Great Falls No. 5 store, along with Johnsonville Brats, raised more than $2,100 for the Special Olympics of Montana (SOMT) over the Labor Day weekend.

The two-day event featured what was billed as the world's largest BBQ. Sheboygan Falls, Wis.-based Johnsonville has several Big Taste Grills that travel the country and each can cook up to 2,500 brats an hour. The grill is 65 feet long and weighs 27 tons. Each brat was $1, and all proceeds went directly to SOMT.

Town Pump does these events a couple of times a year, it said. Several SOMT athletes were on hand for the festivities, it added.
