Each store sold $1 paper plate logos to customers with the promise that the money raised would be allotted to the nearest Meals on Wheels program.
"Wilson Farms and its [image-nocss] customers have once again proved that Western New York is a community where neighbors help neighbors," said Benjamin A. Gair III, CEO at Meals on Wheels Foundation of WNY. "It is no secret that nonprofit organizations are experiencing significant funding cuts. Fundraising campaigns like 'Step Up to the Plate' help Meals on Wheels programs provide nourishment to our most fragile residents."
Paul Nanula, CEO and president of Wilson Farms Inc., said, "Once again, our customers have shown their true generosity through this campaign for Meal on Wheels. We thank our customers and associates for their continued support for endeavors such as this, which allow us to give back to the communities, neighborhoods and people we serve."
To date, "Step Up to the Plate" has raised more than $185,000 for Meals on Wheels programs in the state of New York.
In other company news, Wilson Farms is wrapping up "Bells of Hope," its month-long fundraiser to support The Salvation Army. December 9 through January 2, Wilson Farms customers may purchase miniature red Salvation Army bells for $1.
These miniature keepsakes can be used as holiday decorations. All proceeds raised during the fundraiser will benefit The Salvation Army.
"This holiday season we are asking our customers to help us play an active role in the community by purchasing a miniature Salvation Army bell at any of our 189 locations throughout the state," said Nanula. "At Wilson Farms, it's important for us to support local nonprofit organizations and we are happy to partner with The Salvation Army, an organization that is always ready to lend their aid when our community is in need. The generosity of our community always impresses me and we hope that through the spirit of giving this holiday season our customers will continue to lend a hand for this great cause."
Sara Bialy, special events coordinator for Salvation Army's Buffalo Area Services, said, "It is because of the generosity of Western New Yorkers and corporations such as Wilson Farms that we are able to help the less fortunate in our community and we are so grateful for the kindness and support of our community throughout the holidays."
