Dot Distributing DeMet's

Food redistributor expanding candy offering

MT. STERLING, Ill. --  Dot Foods Inc., a major food redistributor, is expanding its candy offering in response to customer demand by partnering with DeMet's Candy Co. for the distribution of DeMet's Flipz, Turtles, Treasures and TrueNorth product offerings.

Dot begins shipment of DeMet's products on August 20, 2012.

"This is a supplier that distributors have been requesting for some time at Dot," said Jeff Adams, senior business development manager at Dot Foods. "We're glad to have them on board, not only because our customers have been asking for them, but because we see a great opportunity to increase sales for DeMet's, based off the distributors we sell."

Customers can now improve their efficiency by ordering as little as one case of DeMet's products within their Dot order, rather than having to meet the 500-pound minimum of a direct order.

Formed in 2007 and majority owned by Brynwood Partners V LP, DeMet's is a leading manufacturer and marketer of chocolate confectionary products including DeMet's Turtles brand caramel nut clusters, FLIPZ brand chocolate covered pretzels and DeMet's Treasures brand chocolate candies. The company is based in Stamford, Conn., and operates company-owned manufacturing facilities in Big Flats, N.Y., and Mohnton, Pa.

Mt. Sterling, Ill.-based Dot Foods Inc. carries 105,000 products from 600 food industry manufacturers and is the largest food redistributor in the United States. Dot Foods distributes foodservice, convenience, retail and vending food products to distributors in all 50 states. Dot Foods operates eight distribution centers in: Modesto, Calif.; Vidalia, Ga.; Burley, Idaho; Mt. Sterling, Ill.; Cambridge City, Ind.; Williamsport, Md.; Liverpool, N.Y.; and Ardmore, Okla.
