Dove Chocolate Gets Nutty With New-Product Launch

Wider distribution will accompany packaging changes

MCLEAN, Va. -- Candy giant Mars Inc. has launched a line of chocolate-covered nuts that will roll out to retailers nationwide starting March 1. The sweet and salty treats come in three types: Cinnamon Dusted Dark Chocolate Almonds, Sea Salt Dusted Milk Chocolate Cashews and Cocoa Dusted Dark Chocolate Cashews.

The Cinnamon Dusted Dark Chocolate Almonds and Sea Salt Milk Chocolate Cashews come in slim packs and stand-up pouches, while the Cocoa Dusted Dark Chocolate Cashews are only available in stand-up pouches. They have an SRP of $1.99 for a 1.6-ounce slim pack and $3.99 for 5-ounce and 5.5-ounce stand-up pouches. The launch aims to support the growing consumer trend of seeking a more balanced lifestyle in food decisions, Mars said.

But chocolate-covered nuts aren’t the only changes coming to Dove Chocolate this spring. In March, Dove's Chocolate Promises line will be available nationwide in new resealable stand-up pouches with eye-catching graphics. The pouches replace the laydown bags. In addition, three new Promises large stand-up pouches will be available in Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate and a Variety Bag, featuring Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate and Caramel flavors. Also, Dove Promises Silky Smooth Cookie Crisp & Milk Chocolate will also have expanded distribution at retailers nationwide.

McLean, Va.-based Mars is a global manufacturer with more than $35 billion in sales. Besides Dove, its brands include M&M’s, Snickers, Milky Way, Twix, Doublemint, Skittles and Orbit.
