General Mills, Pinnacle Foods Name New Executives

Leaders will oversee variety of snacks brands

MESA, Ariz. -- Two major food and snack companies have announced new executives in key roles.

Parsippany, N.J.-based Pinnacle Foods Inc. has appointed Michael E. Allen to the position of executive vice president. He also will serve as president of the company's Boulder Brands. Allen most recently was president of the Morning Foods Division at The Kellogg Co.

General Mills has named Jon Nudi as the new head of its U.S. retail arm. Nudi is a 20-year veteran of the company and replaces Jeff Harmening, who was promoted in June to president and CEO of General Mills.

Nudi joined Minneapolis-based General Mills in 1993 and previously served as president of the U.S. snacks division. He most recently was head of the company's Europe-Australasia region. He will be replaced in the Europe role by Bethany Quam. She most recently headed the convenience and foodservice operating segment, which is responsible for U.S. away-from-home sales and marketing. Quam also has been with General Mills since 1993.

In his role at Pinnacle Foods, Allen will report to CEO Mark Clouse and replace Phil Anson, interim Boulder general manager and founder of EVOL frozen foods.

A food industry veteran, Allen, 54, has experience leading health and wellness brands, including Kashi and Morningstar Farms. Allen joined The Kellogg Co. in 1997 and progressed through leadership roles in marketing, innovation and general management. Before joining Kellogg's, Allen worked in marketing and advertising.

Pinnacle Foods is a producer, marketer and distributor of branded food products, with a specialty foods segment that includes Tim's Cascade Snacks, Hawaiian kettle-style potato chips, Erin's popcorn, Snyder of Berlin and Husman's snacks. The acquisition of Boulder Brands in early 2016 added brands such as Glutino, Udi's Gluten Free, Earth Balance, EVOL foods and Smart Balance to the Pinnacle Foods portfolio.

General Mills' U.S. Retail snacks brands include Nature Valley, Fiber One, Chex Mix, Annie’s and Food Should Taste Good. The segment is the largest part of the company's $10.5 billion in sales and also includes cereals, baking products, meals and yogurt.
