Safe Snack Guide features variety of snack maker’s products

NOTTINGHAM, Pa. -- Herr Foods Inc. has joined SnackSafely.com, a leading website dedicated to educating families with food allergies, in a manufacturer partnership. As a partner, the snack brand will be featured in the publisher’s Safe Snack Guide, a catalogue of foods free of peanuts, tree nuts and eggs designed to help keep these allergens out of the classroom and the home.

The guide is a trusted resource for schools and parents nationwide.

Herr’s manufactures a line of savory snacks including potato chips, pretzels, popcorn and cheese curls. The family-owned and -operated company, based Nottingham, Pa., make 340 snack products, available worldwide.

“The rise in food allergies is making it increasingly difficult for families to find foods they can safely enjoy together,” said Bob Clark, vice president of marketing at Herr Foods. “Our relationship with SnackSafely.com allows us to distribute more comprehensive allergen information so that consumers with allergy concerns can make better informed decisions about our products.”

Dave Bloom, CEO of SnackSafely.com, said, “We’re pleased to welcome Herr’s to our growing partnership of over 50 companies. Our partners support the food allergy community by providing much more detailed information regarding the potential for allergen exposure than is required by the FDA. My family has been snacking with Herr’s as long as I can remember. We look forward to helping the brand reach millions of families searching for products compatible with their specific food allergy restrictions.”

A selection of Herr’s snacks is now listed in the Safe Snack Guide as well as Allergence, SnackSafely.com’s interactive allergen screening service.

SnackSafely.com has developed a proprietary platform featuring a portal for partner manufacturers to specify how 11 allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, milk, soy, wheat, fish, shellfish, sesame, mustard and gluten) are processed during the manufacture of each product. In return, qualifying products earn listings in the Safe Snack Guide and Allergence.
