Jones Soda Expands Into Candy

Also launching "Campaign Colas"

TORONTO -- Jones Soda is popping into the candy aisle with the launch of new Jones Soda Carbonated Candy. Developed by Canadian confectioner Big Sky Brands Inc., Toronto, in association with Jones Soda Co., Jones Carbonated Candy delivers the authentic flavor of Jones Soda.

Seattle-based Jones Candy is launching in six original Jones Soda flavors—Fufu Berry, Green Apple, Cream Soda, Grape, Orange & Cream and Berry-Lemonade. The candies are sold in pocket tins emblazoned with the Jones logo and retail for around $1.99.

Also launching later this summer are new Jones Carbonated [image-nocss] Sours, each tin featuring a selection of "pucker-face" photos submitted at www.jonescandy.com.

Jones Candy launches nationwide in Canada at retailers including 7-Eleven, Mac's, Esso, Petro Canada and London Drugs.It isavailable at the following U.S. retailers:Speedway SuperAmerica, Circle K, EZ Mart, Hot Topic and Target, as well as independent retailers.

Separately, Jones Soda Co. recently launched Campaign Cola 2008. It is offering "Yes We Can" Obama, "Pure McCain" and "Capitol Hillary" cola, each with the candidate (or former candidate) on the label. And it is tallying online purchases. The website is www.campaigncola.com. Clicking on each candidate's bottle leads to a page with statements from each politician (from the www.politifact.com fact-checking website), a candidate forum and relevant YouTube video clips.

In other company news, Jones Soda's interim CEO, Stephen Jones, has been named the company's permanent CEO, reported The Puget Sound Business Journal.

Jones, 52, joined the Seattle-based soft drink company's board in March 2006 and became interim CEO on January 1. Before coming to Jones Soda, he was president and partner at Denneen Jones & Co., a Boston-based strategy consulting company and also worked in various positions with The Coca-Cola Co. Jones Soda founder Peter van Stolk stepped down last year as CEO and board chairman.
