Leaders Inducted Into Candy Hall of Fame

PEZ dispenser inventor Haas honored

CLEVELAND -- Fourteen confectionery business leaders, including two candy pioneers, were honored with induction into the Candy Hall of Fame on Saturday in Tampa, Fla.The inductees were Robert Bandel, Mars Chocolate North America (Retired); Cornelis Boon, BENEO-Palatinit Inc.; Russell Crosio, Crosio & Associates Inc.; Patricia Green, The Chocolate Tree Inc.; Reginald Groves, Groves & Co.; Gary Guittard, Guittard Chocolate Co.; Frederick Hintlian, Varick Enterprises Inc.; Pat Magee, P Magee Enterprises; Eric Ostrow, Ce De Candy Inc.; Tom Pagano, Ferrara Pan Candy Co. Inc.; [image-nocss] Edward Seguine, Mars Chocolate North America; and Thomas Zucca, L.J. Zucca Inc.

Pioneers Eduard Haas III, who invented the PEZ dispenser, and Joseph Terry, who established Terry's of York, were also inducted.

Honorees were recognized at a gala dinner and highlighted in audio/visual biographies of their personal and professional lives. The event took place as part of the 111th National Confectionery Sales Association (NCSA) Annual Meeting, October 22 to 24.

NCSA administers the Candy Hall of Fame.

More than 200 industry dignitaries, family members and friends attended the induction banquet, including many international guests.

The association, formed in 1899, is dedicated to furthering positive growth and acceptance of confectionery products and to recognizing the achievements of category leaders from all sectors of the international industry. The Candy Hall of Fame was founded in 1971 and recognizes lifetime career achievements in the confectionery industry, with induction based on dedication to the overall betterment of the industry.
