Mission to Mars

Masterfoods USA changing name

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. As long expected, Masterfoods USA will once again be known as Mars Inc. The Hackettstown, N.J.-based candy maker said last week that most of its units around the world will take the Mars name by year's end, reported The Express-Times.

That's the name most people know us asMars, spokesperson Bertille Glass told the newspaper. It helps us speak with one voice about all our brands.

The company is about to start changing signs, business cards and stationery, she added.

Masterfoods USA is [image-nocss] the snack, food and pet care division for Mars Inc., which indicated last year it was reviewing its corporate branding strategy. Masterfoods has used the name M&M/Mars Inc. before, but began referring to itself as Masterfoods USA in 2002, said the report.

Known for making M&Ms and Milky Way, privately owned Masterfoods has more than $5 billion in sales annually, the report said. Mars Inc. is based in McLean, Va.
