DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Mondelēz International has acquired the license to sell Cadbury biscuits in the United States, the company has announced.
"Ownership of the Cadbury biscuits license offers us exciting opportunities to accelerate global growth and innovation, as we expand our leading position in biscuits, globally and in Europe," said Mondelez Europe vice president Hubert Walker.
Mondelēz said it is purchasing from Burton's Biscuit Co. the license that enables the company to manufacture, market and sell Cadbury-branded biscuits around the world, including in the U.K., France, Ireland, North America and Saudi Arabia, subject to regulatory approval.
Financial details weren't disclosed.
Mondelēz International produces biscuits, chocolate, gum, candy and powdered beverages, with brands such as Oreo, LU and Nabisco biscuits; Cadbury, Cadbury Dairy Milk and Milka chocolate; and Trident gum.
