INDIANAPOLIS -- Beef-jerky maker Oberto has added its logo to the paint job of another race car. The company, in partnership with Circle K, sponsored Marco Andretti’s car in the Verizon IndyCar Series in Phoenix on April 29.
Though Andretti finished 18th after his Honda was involved in a five-car crash in the first lap, Oberto Brands CEO Tom Hernquist said he was “thrilled” to see the brand expand its footprint in the racing community.
“We are excited to have the Andretti family help us deliver our message and further educate consumers on the power of our all-natural Oberto products,” Hernquist said in a statement before the race. “Their dedication to the racing industry and the efforts they put in both on and off the track perfectly exemplifies what we stand for here at Oberto.”
Another Oberto/Circle K-sponsored driver—Andretti Autosport's Scott Speed—fared better over the weekend. Speed and his Volkswagen Beetle GRC took first place in the opening race of the 2017 Red Bull Rallycross season on April 29 in Memphis, Tenn.
“Oberto has been a strong partner for us on the Global Rallycross front, and we’re excited to welcome them to our IndyCar program as well as Marco’s primary sponsor for Phoenix,” said Andretti Autosport CEO Michael Andretti in a statement.
Andretti Autosport, based in Indianapolis, is one of the most recognizable names in auto racing. Among its accomplishments are four IndyCar series championships and four victories at the renowned Indianapolis 500 race.
In 2016, Oberto was the primary sponsor of the Jim Dunn Racing Funny Car for the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. Oberto has also sponsored Unlimited Hydroplane racing boats since 1975.
Seattle-based Oberto is the nation’s leading all-natural jerky snacks company. The company’s jerky brands include Oberto All-Natural Jerky, Pacific Gold and Cattleman’s Cut.
