Peeps Show

Just Born opens Peeps & Co. retail outlet near D.C.
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- Just Born Inc., maker of Peeps, Mike & Ike, Hot Tamales and Peanut Chews, has opened its first retail store, Peeps & Co., in National Harbor, Md. Shoppers can browse distinct areas customized to a brand. Highlights include a Mike & Ike "Equalizer of Flavors Wall," the Hot Tamales "How Hot Are You" test and a giant, lit Peeps Chick. And it offers candy and a variety of branded items such as apparel, gear, crystal, treats and toys.

David Shaffer and Ross Born, Co-CEOs of Just Born, said in a joint statement, "For years, we have seen tremendous [image-nocss] growth and excitement for our brands, and received many requests for a store in just the right location. Peeps & Co. is proud to join the community near our nation's capital."

Peeps & Co. is located at the center of National Harbor's main plaza. The store's location is at a converging point for residents and thousands of visitors arriving by metro bus, car and ferries, which dock at the piers in front of the store. Rising from the banks of the Potomac minutes from Washington, D.C., National Harbor is a 300-acre, mixed-used development that includes five hotels, thousands of residential units, tree-lined promenades with scores of shops and offices, a marina and more. Created by area developer, The Peterson Cos., the project will command a mile and a quarter of the Potomac.

Just Born is a privately owned company headquartered in Bethlehem, Pa., where it manufactures Peeps, Hot Tamales and Mike & Ike Brand Candies. Peanut Chews Brand Candies are produced in Philadelphia.
