Ben & Jerry talk marijuana ice cream; Dutch company develops cannabis vaping product

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. --Ben & Jerry's, the ice cream company known for its wacky flavor names and combinations, may have a new one on the horizon: pot-flavored ice cream. Founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield would be open to supporting marijuana ice cream if it becomes legal, they said in an interview with HuffPost Live.

"Makes sense to me. Combine your pleasures," Cohen told the news outlet.

"Ben and I have had previous experiences with substances and, you know, I think legalizing marijuana is a wonderful thing rather than putting people in jail for not hurting anybody else. And I'm very supportive of that," he said.

But don't reach for the ice cream scoop quite yet.

"There's nothing going on from the company, not discussion nor development, in regards to a cannabis concoction," Sean Greenwood, a spokesperson for the company told USA Today. "We have our hands full with our new Cookie Cores flavors, our new Tonight Dough flavor with Jimmy Fallon, and our upcoming climate activism tour."

Ben & Jerry's already offers flavors--containing no marijuana--with names such as Hazed & Confused, Half-Baked, Satisfy My Bowl (which celebrates music legend Bob Marley) and Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz.

The use of recreational marijuana is currently legal in Washington state, Colorado, Alaska, Oregon and the District of Columbia, according to a UPI report.

Separately, Dutch company E-njoint has recently launched a new vaping product for its "electric joint," which is infused with an authentic cannabis taste and smell. This marijuana-flavored E-njoint is provides a mild high, it said.

Because the E-njoint contains no THC, CBD, nicotine, tar or toxins, it's completely legal, the company said. The terpenes used to create the E-njoint Cannabis Flavor have been tailored to provide a variety of effects on the user, such as muscle relaxation, mood enhancement, alertness promoting and more. All ingredients are natural and are used extensively in the food and beverage industry. The ingredients are non-toxic and legal worldwide, it said.
