Seattle, Portland Next Ports of Call for goodnessknows Snack Squares

Success in Colorado spurs expansion of Mars product

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -- Mars Chocolate North America is expanding its goodnessknows snack squares into two new West Coast markets--Seattle and Portland. First launched in Denver and Boulder in 2010, goodnessknows is the company's answer to consumer demand for a nutritious and wholesome snack option that fits into a healthy lifestyle.

"Denver and Boulder were the perfect choice for the introduction of our product. Colorado residents love the outdoors, are active, and care about the food they put into their bodies," said Adam Adams, director of health and wellness for Mars Chocolate NA. "After receiving such positive feedback there, we're delighted to offer goodnessknows in Seattle and Portland, where people live similar lifestyles."

As part of the brand's debut in the Seattle and Portland areas, nearly 20,000 consumers had the chance to try goodnessknows during two food festivals, Bite of Seattle and Bite of Oregon.

The wholesome snacks include slow-roasted whole almonds, fruits and toasted oats and contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Each four-square serving is nestled in deep chocolate, which is made by using a special Mars Inc. process developed to preserve the natural cocoa flavanols found in cocoa beans. All goodnessknows varieties deliver 200 mg of cocoa flavanols per serving to help support the body's healthy circulation of nutrients and oxygen.

Available in three delicious flavors--Very Cranberry, Nutty Apple and Peachy Cherry--each four-square serving of goodnessknows also has 150 calories, 2-3 grams of fiber and 3 grams of protein.

In the Seattle and Portland areas, goodnessknows can be found at select QFC and Fred Meyer stores. In the Denver and Boulder areas, the snack squares can be found at King Soopers, Safeway, Whole Foods Markets and other retailers. Found in the granola or snack bar aisle, a single serving size (four squares) is available for a suggested retail price of $1.49 and a five-serving multipack carton is available for a suggested retail price of $4.99.

goodnessknows is hosting a variety of grassroots events and in-store demonstrations, as well as offering Facebook fans a buy one, get one free coupon while supplies last.
