See's Candies Sets World Sucker Record

Celebrates National Lollipop Day with 7,000-lb. creation

SAN FRANCISCO -- See's Candies celebrated National Lollipop Day (July 20) by revealing a 7,000-pound lollipop in the city of San Francisco, which sets the new world record for the largest lollipop, according to the World Records Academy.

In addition to creating the world's largest lollipop, See's Candies is celebrating National Lollipop Day by giving away its Gourmet Lollypops at more than 200 retail shop locations across the United States while supplies last.

The previous Guinness world record for the largest lollipop was made by Jolly Rancher and weighed 4,016 pounds and measured 62.8 inches in diameter (more than five square feet) and 18.9 inches thick, said See's.

"We are so pleased to have created a larger-than-life version of our favorite candy-on-a-stick," said See's Candies CEO Brad Kinstler.

"This accomplishment is a testament to our extraordinary production team, who spent many hours designing and constructing the world's largest lollipop. We can't wait to showcase this record breaking lollipop on National Lollipop Day to our customers in San Francisco," he said.

See's Candies has been producing fresh chocolates and candies since 1921.

With more than 200 shops throughout the United States, Carson, Calif.-based See's Candies makes more than 100 varieties of candies including the signature Milk Chocolate Bordeaux and the Butter Cream.
