Stryve Foods Names New Vice President of Sales

Powers will oversee sales team, develop new business

PLANO, Texas -- T.J. Powers, former vice president of meat-snack producer Oberto Brands, is now vice president of sales for protein-snack company Stryve Foods, where he’ll oversee the sales team, develop new business opportunities and drive growth.

“T.J. brings nearly 20 years of expertise and knowledge in the consumer packaged goods industry, with a proven history of delivering top-line growth and profitability increases,” said Matthew Sheriff, president of Stryve Foods. “We are excited to have T.J. join our team as vice president of sales; he will be a perfect fit for our fast-paced growth plans.”

Before joining Stryve Foods, Powers spent more than 13 years with The Kellogg Co. in sales and executive management. He then served as vice president for Oberto Brands and, most recently, worked at Eby-Brown, where he was responsible for growing customer bases and increasing profits and opportunity. Powers is also on the NACS Exhibitor Advisory Committee and is involved with other industry associations as well.

“In an industry that has seen generally the same products year over year, it’s inspiring to take part in the biltong movement,” Powers said. “Stryve has a talented team that I am honored to join, and I look forward to using my experience to help the brand grow quickly."

Biltong is a type of cured meat, similar to jerky, that originated in South Africa.

Plano, Texas-based Stryve Foods LLC is a protein-snack company founded by a group of sports nutrition experts in April 2017. Its products include chicken and turkey baked bites; beef biltong; and beef, turkey and pork sticks. Its products contain no additives and are low in sugar and high in protein.
