Wilson Farms Names Vendors of Year

Perry's Ice Cream, Miller Brewing honored for retailer support
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Perry's Ice Cream and Miller Brewing Co. were recently named Vendors of the Year by convenience store retailer Wilson Farms Neighborhood Food Stores. The companies received the honors based on a number of criteria including their support of Wilson Farms corporate initiatives, community involvement, service and response to stores, support of advertising and marketing programs and making a difference to the stores they service.

Robert Denning, president and chief executive officer, Timothy Cooley, vice president, sales and distribution and Jeffrey Young, key [image-nocss] account manager, accepted the award on Perry's behalf (pictured). Chris Gick, manager, convenience division; northeast region and Dave Mack, chain sales manager; northeast region accepted the award on behalf of Miller Brewing (pictured).

In other company news, Wilson Farms recently presented the Salvation Army with a check for $23,615 for funds raised during the 2009 Bells of Hope Campaign held in December 2009. The check presentation took place during the Salvation Army's annual Red Shield luncheon in May.

Nick Gallegos, vice president of sales and marketing for Wilson Farms, presented the organization with a check.

During the month-long campaign, customers purchased miniature Salvation Army bells for $1 each at all Wilson Farms locations.

Also, Wilson Farms recently received the Trustee Award from the Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo Foundation during the annual Burt. P. Flickinger Jr. Awards Ceremony in May. Wilson Farms received the award because of its continued demonstration of longstanding support and commitment through time, volunteer activities and fundraising assistance.

Wilson Farms chief executive officer and president Paul Nanula and other members of the chain's executive team accepted the award.

The retailer raises funds annually for Women & Children's Hosptial of Buffalo through its annual Balloon Campaign. The 2010 fundraiser brought in more than $18,000 to be used for the purchase of vital equipment for the hospital. Since its involvement in 2007, Wilson Farms has raised more than $65,000 for the hospital.
