Winning Over Consumers in the 'Micro-Moments'

Google exec to offer insights on digital engagement at NCA’s Sweets & Snacks Expo

WASHINGTON -- Presenting for the first time at NCA’s Sweets & Snacks Expo, Google will share the latest insights on omni-channel shoppers and how their behavior affects the candy and snack category. Focusing on the brief moments retailers have to win over shoppers, which search giant Google refers to as "micro-moments," Google will examine how retailers can reach their customers in a new way through digital engagement.

“I look forward to addressing areas of opportunities for candy and snack retailers at the Expo,” said Mountain View, Calif.-based Google’s senior partner leader Amy Margolies, who will be presenting. “Selling candy or snacks and having a digital footprint are not mutually exclusive. I have insights to share that we’ve learned at Google that can positively impact the candy and snack industry.”

Google joins other subject matter experts from various industries to provide valuable and tangible knowledge that candy, snack and specialty retailers can implement immediately.

“We’re thrilled to have a company with the forward-thinking reputation of Google presenting in our Sweet Insights Theater,” said Barry Rosenbaum, president of Nassau Candy Distributors and Expo committee chairman. “With the expansion of our educational offerings which are all included in the basic expo registration, the Sweets & Snacks Expo continues to be the best business value in the industry for candy, snack and specialty retailers.”

For the first time at the Expo, two educational theaters will be located directly on the show floor. The Sweet Insights Theater will continue to be inside the West Hall, while the Discovery Theater will debut in Skyline Hall with educational tracks specializing in snacking and specialty trends.

More than 130 new companies will occupy the new Skyline Hall at the 2016 Expo with exhibiting companies expected to grow by nearly 20%.

Held at Chicago’s McCormick Place this May 24 to 26, NCA’s Sweets & Snacks Expo attracts thousands of pre-qualified candy and snack retail and wholesale customers representing nearly every distribution channel from the largest global retail chains down to small, independently-owned candy shops.

The National Confectioners Association is the trade organization representing the $35 billion U.S. confections industry.
