WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Camel Snus has got a brand new bag--updated packaging, that is. Starting on Feb. 25, Camel Snus, made by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., will come in Fresh Seal packaging.
According to the company, the Camel Snus Fresh Seal packaging ensures product freshness and flavor, with no need for refrigeration.
The change to the packaging means a thinner, easier-to-carry tin, the company said. It also offers new opportunities to broaden awareness and trial among adult tobacco consumers. The Fresh Seal locks in freshness, so "the last pouch is as fresh as the first," it said, ensuring great taste and a flavorful tobacco experience for adult tobacco consumers.
The Camel brand is transforming along with trends in tobacco use by offering adult smokers options such as Camel Snus for them to consider switching to.
Camel Snus, introduced nationally in 2009, contains premium tobacco that is pouched, smoke-free and spit-free. Available in four styles, Camel Snus come 15 pouches to a tin.
Snus were a $120-million subcategory for the convenience store industry in 2011, up 33% from 2010, according to data from CSP's 2012 Category Management Handbook.
Winston-Salem, N.C.-based R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. is an indirect subsidiary of Reynolds American Inc.
