Cigarette Graphic Warning Hearing Set

Hearing on a cigarette graphic warning lawsuit to be held next month

A U.S. Federal District Court judge has scheduled a hearing on September 21, 2011, on the tobacco industry's recently filed lawsuit.

The suit seeks a preliminary injunction against the FDA's final rule, set to go into effect in September of 2012, requiring new text warnings and graphic health warning pictures on cigarette packages, cigarette cartons and cigarette advertisements.

According to news reports, the judge indicated that with a hearing in September, a ruling should be issued sometime in October.
