Davidoff Introduces Two Slims Styles to U.S.

Positioned as the ultra-premium slims brand in category
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Commonwealth Brands Inc. is introducing two Davidoff Slim cigarette styles to the United States this February 2009. The company said rollout is intended to fulfill consumers' desire for an alternative premium slims cigarette. Introduction of Davidoff Slims follows the successful spring 2008 launch of Davidoff Premium Line cigarettes in the U.S. market.

Positioned as the ultra-premium slims brand in its category, Davidoff Slims will give existing slims' smokers the opportunity to experience the super premium quality and exceptional smoking satisfaction [image-nocss] that can be provided only by Davidoff cigarettes. The two styles available will be Davidoff Slims Lights and Davidoff Slims Menthol Lights.

In the last year, Davidoff Slims cigarette volumes have grown by nearly 25% across the globe and now account for nearly one-fifth of the brand's total annual volumes, the company said.

Although a fairly young brand in the United States, Davidoff cigarettes are one of the leading luxury cigarette brands in the world, and Imperial Tobacco's key global strategic brand. Davidoff cigarettes are already well-established in more than 100 countries as well as travel retail and duty free.

An extension to the Premium Line, Davidoff Slims have the brand's distinctive packaging. Davidoff cigarettes were the first brand to introduce an octagon-shaped pack, a contemporary design that is not only aesthetically pleasing and recognizable, but also helps to better protect the cigarettes inside.

Support for Davidoff Slims in the United States includes a customized slims program set up to include media, point-of-sale and direct mail.

Bowling Green, Ky.-based Commonwealth Brands is the fourth largest cigarette company in the United States, manufacturing the Davidoff, Fortuna, USA Gold, Montclair, Malibu, Sonoma and Riviera cigarette brands. In addition they also manufacture other tobacco products under the brand names Premier, McClintock, Bali-Shag, E-Z Wider, Joker, El Rey and Rizla. Commonwealth Brands is owned by Imperial Tobacco PLC.
