General Cigar Launches Cigar Lifestyle Website

Offering prizes to consumers who set up profiles

Akin to a virtual cigar lounge, Cigar World invites consumers to indulge their passion for handmade cigars through an interactive lifestyle platform. Cigar lovers can get involved by recommending and rating cigars, voicing their opinions in the newly-expanded discussion forum and commenting on noncigar content.

"Consumers who visit Cigar World will experience our cigars in a vibrant digital environment that aims to deepen engagement in the premium cigar category," said Alan Willner, General Cigar's vice president of marketing. "The site was created to celebrate the allure of premium cigars and related indulgences, in a format that encourages participation and social activity."

Cigar World debuted with a number of new features, including a virtual humidor complete with a cigar bomb component, a photo sharing feature and an education section that reflects General Cigar's approach to cigar making. The site also provides users with access to resources such as a retail locator and event calendar, which are powered by Google Maps.

A highlight of Cigar World is the onsite digital magazine called CW World. It features entertaining and informative articles written by influential editors from luxury and men's lifestyle publications. Content includes articles on wine and spirits, electronics, sports, apparel, and more and will be updated frequently.

With intuitive navigation, rich content and a modern aesthetic, Cigar World continues be a resource for detailed information on General Cigar. It presents access to the company's extensive portfolio of cigars alongside profiles of the company's artisans.

To celebrate the launch of the site, General Cigar is running a contest called the "30 Days of Giveaways." Through March 13, consumers who create profiles on the site will be eligible to win great prizes including Cigar World humidors and autographed boxes of best-selling General Cigar brands, such as Punch, CAO and La Gloria Cubana.

The new Cigar World website was created by General Cigar and developed by Moosylvania, an independent advertising agency that specializes in digital, branding and promotions.

General Cigar manufactures and markets handcrafted cigars for the premium market. It also produces Macanudo, Cohiba, Partagas, Hoyo de Monterrey, Excalibur, La Gloria Cubana, CAO and several other leading premium brands.
