State Smoking Legislative Update

NATO provides the latest smoking restriction legislative update

Of the seven state legislatures that have considered the adoption of new smoking restrictions, bills in Indiana, Kentucky and Mississippi were not passed because the 2011 legislative sessions have been adjourned.

Four other states still have bills pending, including Alabama (would include bars in current smoking ban law), California (eliminates smoking exemption for bars), South Carolina (would include bars in current smoking ban law) and Texas (would include bars in the current smoking ban law).

At the present time, some 21 other states have previously enacted statewide smoking [image-nocss] restriction laws and do not allow smoking in workplaces, restaurants and/or bars.
