RaceTrac Petroleum’s RaceTrac brand enjoyed a market efficiency of 3.94 in 2017, placing it near the top of the Fuels 50. Company executives have credited this performance to a few key elements: high-traffic locations; highly visible and competitive fuel prices; and clean, well-maintained fuel dispensers. The Atlanta-based chain has also been adding to its fuel offer. In 2016, RaceTrac began adding E15 to the first of more than 100 sites in Florida, Georgia and Texas and in 2017, it became the first retailer to offer the ethanol-gasoline blend in Louisiana.

It’s an expansion that mirrors RaceTrac’s own growing store footprint. The chain plans to open nearly 50 more c-stores in Florida over the next two years, and 30 or more sites in the Nashville area in the next five years—its first growth foray into a new market in more than 15 years.
