Alon USA Reopens Big Spring Truck Rack

Company has supplied 100% of contract volumes despite explosion

DALLAS -- Alon USA Energy Inc. announced that it reopened the Big Spring, Texas, refinery truck rack on Friday. All of the other company racks have remained operational since the explosion on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, that injured four workers.

Jeff D. Morris, Alon's president and CEO, said, "We are pleased with the progress we are making in returning the Big Spring refinery to service. This is the first step of many. We are currently ahead of our own internal schedule and continue to be optimistic about returning to the first stage of operation producing gasoline, diesel and asphalt within 60 [image-nocss] days."

He added, "Since the Monday explosion at the refinery, we have supplied all our customers with 100% of their contract volumes and no contract customer has been placed on allocation."

Alon USA's 70,000-barrels-per-day Big Spring refinery is located 290 miles west of Dallas in West Central Texas. It employs approximately 170 people and is one of four Alon USA refineries.
