Atlas Oil to Distribute TankShield

Partners with Burlingame to market storage tank fuel theft deterrent system

TAYLOR, Mich. -- Fuel theft from aboveground tanks is becoming a growing problem because of the economy, according to Atlas Oil Co., and to address this problem, it has partnered with Burlingame Industries Inc. to distribute TankShield, a fuel theft deterrent system engineered to protect a company's investment in fuel.

Atlas will market the TankShield product exclusively in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

"At Atlas, we understand that our customers make a significant investment in fuel for their business," said Bob Kenyon, executive vice president of sales and business development. "Oftentimes, this is their second highest cost after the cost of personnel. This product will give customers peace of mind and protect both their fuel and their profits."

The TankShield product is easy to install and works on all size skid tanks. The TankShield is mounted on top of the fuel tank, acting as a barrier to entry. The fuel is protected by a puck-style locking mechanism that has been tested and proven to withstand tampering. Traditional locking methods have been ineffective, Atlas said, but this style prevents bolt cutters or other tools from compromising the locking mechanism.

"We are pleased to be partnering with Atlas Oil as a master distributor," said Mark Bruinius, CEO and owner of Burlingame Industries. "Any business owner that uses a significant amount of fuel for their business and has aboveground skid tanks knows the value of protecting that investment. We are seeing significant interest from construction contractors, landscapers, agriculture, aggregate and other fuel-intensive businesses."

Based in Taylor, Mich., Atlas Oil is a national fuel supply and distribution company. With 24x7x365 operations, it meets the fuel and service needs of businesses, municipalities and government agencies in 19 states. It also supplies fuel to nearly 400 gasoline convenience stores throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
