Atlas Oil Expands Sales Team

Appointments focus on business development, emerging markets
TAYLOR, Mich. -- Atlas Oil Co. has expanded its sales team, adding five sales representatives to focus on business development and emerging markets. Bob Kenyon, executive vice president of sales and business development, has announced the appointments of McKenzie Egender, regional sales team leader, Mohammed Makky, director of retail commission sales, Robert Torres, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) sales representative, Bryan Watson, director of sales operations and Jeremy Whiddon, director of emergency fuel solutions.

"Atlas is expanding its footprint throughout the U.S. as well [image-nocss] as expanding its product and service offerings," said Bob Kenyon. "These appointments are key to helping Atlas to grow organically within our 23-state reach and expand our foothold in emerging markets."

McKenzie Egender joins Atlas from Data Transmission Network/Televent in Vail, Colo., where she was regional sales director, responsible for building relationships with petroleum suppliers, wholesalers, retail dealers and fleet operators. Egender began her career in the fuel industry as a supply chain analyst for TransMontaigne Product Services in Denver and eventually worked her way into corporate market development.

Mohammed Makky has more than 18 years of supply chain and wholesale/retail merchandising operations expertise. He joins Atlas from VPS Convenience Store Group, where he was regional operations director for 84 convenience stores across 10 districts in South Carolina. Makky also served in similar roles at both The Pantry Inc., Cary, N.C., and at Pilot Travel Centers LLC, Knoxville, Tenn. Makky began his career in the industry as a marketing analyst for ESSO Standard NE., an Exxon affiliate in Europe and the Middle East.

Robert Torres is responsible for sales of a new product, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). Torres has more than 20 years of sales experience and joins Atlas from Ogden, Utah-based Flying J. Inc. in Carson City, Mich.,, where he was senior fuel marketing regional manager for the past five years. Torres began his sales career as a territory manager at Moog Automotive and also worked as a senior district sales manager for Carquest in Lansing, Mich.

Two other key appointments were made internally, with Bryan Watson moving to a new role as director of sales operations from talent acquisition team leader and Jeremy Whiddon to director of emergency fuel solutions from strategic marketing team leader.

Watson joined the human resources business unit in 2009 from Aerotek Inc., Southfield, Mich., where he was an account manager in the automotive, oil and gas, power engineering and alternative energy industries.

Jeremy Whiddon joined Atlas as strategic marketing team leader focused on commercial sales and supply in September of 2009 from Crystal Flash, Grand Rapids, Mich., where he was new product developer and marketing professional. He moves to business development to focus on sales of the company's generator assurance program and other emerging markets. Whiddon has eight years experience in the fuel industry.

Taylor, Mich.-based Atlas is a national petroleum products distributor and services provider. It meets the fuel and service needs of businesses, municipalities and governments in 23 states. Atlas also supplies fuel to nearly 400 gasoline convenience stores throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Atlas maintains operational centers in Michigan, Indiana, Texas and Ohio.
