Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil Corp. told the news outlet, "[Wednesday] is the official 'change in control' at several stations in the Memphis area. We reached an agreement with Excell Petroleum in June to sell our real estate at 40 Exxon-branded stations. ExxonMobil is committed to making [image-nocss] this conversion as smooth as possible."
At some locations, the conversion was completed by early afternoon, said the report. So far, the stations remain under the Exxon brand.
An ExxonMobil spokesperson told CSP Daily News in late September when the deal was announced that the sale of the 40 stations to Duluth, Ga.-based Excell Petroleum will be transparent to consumers.
"We don't expect this change to impact customers, and they will continue to be able to purchase the same high-quality Exxon products," Kristen A. Hellmer said at the time.

"This transaction is consistent with our June 2008 announcement that we would be transitioning a majority of our remaining company-owned stations to the distributor model," she added.
