SAN RAMON, Calif. -- In a move to present a clear, strong and unified presence in the global marketplace, ChevronTexaco Corp. is changing its name to Chevron Corp., effective immediately.

In addition to its new name, Chevron unveiled a new imagea refreshed and redesigned version of the red and blue Chevron logo. The new look will be introduced over the coming months.

As we strive to sustain superior performance, it is important that we have consistent global awareness of our corporate brand, O'Reilly said. Moreover, our new corporate symbol will provide a more contemporary image for the forward-looking company we are today.

The company will continue to expand and support its global retail business through its portfolio of retail brandsTexaco, Chevron and Caltexall of which are leaders in key markets worldwide. The company will retain its portfolio of products and lubricant brands.

The change comes on the heels of the company's announcement last week, as reported in CSP Daily News, that it will be including its patented Techron fuel additive in its gasolines throughout the United States and Latin America this summer. It will eventually add Techron to all of its gasolines worldwide, creating a standardized fuel.

Danny Roden, Chevron's vice president of North America, said all Chevron gasolines in the United States already contain Techron. But the company wanted to communicate the news to customers of the newly acquired Texaco branded sites, many of which ChevronTexaco began supplying on July 1, 2004.

As part of its 2001 merger, ChevronTexaco will share the brand rights to Texaco with Shell Oil Products U.S. until July 1, 2006, when ChevronTexaco gains exclusive rights to the Texaco brand.

The company will launch a national advertising campaign to inform consumers.

Roden said Techron, an additive designed to prevent and remove engine deposits in vehicle engines, is the main way ChevronTexaco differentiates its gasolines in the marketplace. He said by announcing a plan to eventually add Techron to all its gasolines worldwide, it further demonstrates our commitment to building our Chevron, Texaco and Caltex brands in the long-term.

San Ramon, Calif.-based Chevron subsidiaries conduct business in approximately 180 countries around the world, producing and transporting crude oil and natural gas, and refining, marketing and distributing fuels and other energy products.
