Maxedon was born in Alamo, Tenn., and moved to Lexington, Ky., with his parents when he was 12. He attended the University of Kentucky where he was an officer of the Pershing Rifles Military Fraternity, in the U.S. Infantry, which was called to active duty in World War II.
After his discharge from military duty, he served foreight years as director of the Motor [image-nocss] Fuels Tax Division of the Kentucky Department of Revenue. Following state government service, he served for 45 years as director of the Kentucky Division of the American Petroleum Institute (API) and as executive director of KPMA.Richard A. Maxedon is currently president and executive director of KPMA. Tim Maxedon is currently associate director of the group.Maxedon was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mathews Maxedon. He is survived by two sons, Thomas H. ("Tim") Maxedon Jr. and Richard A. Maxedon of Louisville, a daughter, Patricia Kincheloe of Eureka, Montana, eight grand children and several great grand children. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Anchorage Public School, WHAS Crusade for Children or the American Diabetes Foundation.
