TIPP CITY, Ohio & FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Gulf Oil has announced a new branded partnership agreement with Tripp City, Ohio-based R & R Takhar Oil Co., near Dayton, returning the iconic motor fuel brand to major Ohio cities for the first time in two decades.
R & R Takhar Oil will begin converting five retail gasoline stations in its service area to the Gulf brand, beginning with one of its Columbus, Ohio, locations. Other cities slated for Gulf's expansion in the state include Dayton, Eaton, Medina and Canton.
"The Gulf brand brings additional value to our company," co-owner Randy Singh Takhar of R & R Takhar Oil said. "Gulf has a great image, is a trusted company and rekindles a sense of nostalgia for many people. We know that customers will feel great about filling up their tanks with Gulf gasoline."
The Ohio stations are among the most recent to welcome back the brand as it continues its national expansion. The company is also expanding into Michigan and the Great Lakes Region.

Gulf Oil pioneered the concept of branded product sales in the early 20th century by selling gasoline in containers and from pumps marked with the distinctive orange disc Gulf logo.
Framingham, Mass.-based Gulf Oil LP is a national, branded supplier of motor fuels throughout the United States and its territories. It remains one of the Northeast's largest wholesalers of refined petroleum products, as well as in the rest of the country. Gulf Oil distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 2,500 branded gasoline retail centers, 12 proprietary oil terminals and more than 130 other supply points. And it supplies gasoline, heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene through its terminal network.
