Gulf Oil Reaches Peach State

Brand expands into Georgia with Acree Oil partnership
TOCCOA, Ga. & FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Gulf Oil LP has announced a new branded partnership agreement with Acree Oil Co. of Toccoa, Ga. As the first step in the new relationship, Acree Oil will convert six of its BP-branded stations to the Gulf brand.

The two companies share a long history. Founded in 1927, Acree Oil today supplies more than 130 retailers and numerous commercial accounts across Georgia and South Carolina. A branch office in Athens, Ga., is the former home of a Gulf Oil office. Several of Acree's staff were formerly employed by Gulf Oil.

"Partnering [image-nocss] with Gulf Oil was an easy decision for us," said Jack Sales of Acree Oil. "Not only does the company have a strong brand reputation, but Gulf consistently delivers on value and service for an on-the-go driving public."

Gulf Oil senior vice president and chief sales and marketing officer Rick Dery said, "Consumers in Georgia are very loyal and we look forward to building a new relationship with them. Our expansion reflects our determination to support the brand in the Southern states."

"We are dedicated to giving our dealers and distributors the tools they need to be more successful over the long term," said Gulf Oil president and chief operating officer Ron Sabia. "We are pleased to grow in Georgia, and look forward to further expansion there."

The partnership comes as Atlanta Braves fans have seen Gulf's "Sunrise" logo behind home plate during Turner Field home games as part of a multi-year sponsorship with Major League Baseball. (Click here for previous CSP Daily News coverage.)
