H-E-B to Offer Additives at Fuel Centers

Additech says its "tune-up at the pump" helps reduce emissions, improve fuel efficiency

SAN ANTONIO -- Grocery retailer H.E. Butt Grocery Co. (H-E-B) and Additech Inc. have signed a deal to place Additech's patented fuel additive distribution system in H-E-B fuel centers across Texas.

This contract is especially important to us because of the 'presence' it will give us in our home stateTexas. The contract with H-E-B is for five years, and we expect to install our system in materially all H-E-B stores that have fuel centers, said Ralph Koehrer, Additech CEO.

The installations will take place over the next year with 30 [image-nocss] installations planned by yearend.

Andy Austin, Additech president, said, Adding Additech to H-E-B fuel centers gives H-E-B customers the opportunity to save gas and save money, while helping to reduce harmful automotive emissions in Texas.

Additech's tune-up at the pump service gives consumers the option to purchase fuel system cleaners that are blended into their gasoline and clean their engine's vital parts as they drive. Through normal engine wear and tear, carbon deposits begin to build up on fuel system and engine parts in as little as 1,500 miles, the company said. Additech fuel additives remove these carbon deposits, resulting in more efficient fuel combustion.

Additech and H-E-B began working together last year in a five-site pilot program.

We have a deep commitment to the state of Texas and to our customers, said James Aulds, H-E-B vice president of petroleum marketing. We are happy to offer our customers a convenient service that helps them maintain their vehicles and keep the environment clean.

Additech operates its system at more than 2,200 fueling positions across 16 states at major fuel retailers. The company expects to have its systems installed at more than 2,800 fueling positions in more than 550 sites by yearend.

Based in San Antonio, H-E-B serves millions of customers in more than 150 communities throughout Texas and Mexico.

Additech, Houston, builds and operates an at-the-pump engine maintenance system that combines technology with fuel additives. Its system blends specialty fuel additives into gasoline as it is pumped.
