ICA Goes to Marketers

Partners with WPMA on education program
CHICAGO -- The International Carwash Association (ICA) announced a partnership with the Western Petroleum Marketers Association (WPMA) for the upcoming Car Care World Expo 2010, May 12-14, in Las Vegas. The two associations are co-presenting the supplemental education program, Petroleum Marketer Seminar, held one day prior to Car Care World Expo's official opening day.

"We're excited to join with the International Carwash Association and have the opportunity to co-present this unique seminar," said Gene Inglesby, executive director, WPMA. "The Petroleum Marketer Seminar [image-nocss] is just one more opportunity for this niche market to discover ways they can break into the industry and achieve success, and our partnership makes this possible."

The Petroleum Marketer Seminar, a half-day seminar held May 11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, will be led by Kelly Maria, ICA, and James Lynch, WPMA, and present practical and applicable education for petroleum marketers for cross-marketing their primary business and car wash to be successful and remain profitable.

The seminar begins with an introduction to the car-wash industry through a series of industry statistics, data and segments as a background for those seeking opportunities in the industry. The panel of expert will provide an overview of the initial investment in a car wash, including finding the right location, purchasing equipment, overall costs and projecting the return on investment.

Attendees will then learn how to best market their car wash with information on pricing strategies, the most effective customer touchpoints, signage, promotions and communication tactics.

Petroleum marketers encompass a wide range of commercial businesses, from wholesale to retail, including gasoline stations, convenience stores, heating-oil businesses, truck stops, lubricant warehouses, petroleum trucking companies and bulk storage facilities. A car wash is typically a petroleum marketers' secondary business.

Seminar registration is $149 for International Carwash Association members and WPMA members; $199 for non-members and includes access to a seminar reception and to the Car Care World Expo trade show floor for all three days. More information on the Car Care World Expo 2010 is available at www.icawatersavers.org.

The International Carwash Association, Chicago, is a non-profit trade association representing the retail and supply segments of the professional car-wash and vehicle-care industry in the United States, Canada and around the globe.
