Industry Associations Elect '08 Officers

Turner at PMAA, Oneslager at NACS, Larson at PEI

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Steve Turner, co-owner of Petromark Inc., Harrison, Ark., was elected 2008 PMAA Chairman earlier this week in Atlanta at the Petroleum Marketers Association of America's Fall Conference. Turner has been a member of the PMAA Executive Committee for the last five years and a board member since 1995.

Petromark, a Shell, ConocoPhillips, BP and Valero jobber operates 22 convenience stores and supplies 150 wholesale fuel accounts in five states.

Other elected officers include vice chairman, Matt Bjornson, Bjornson [image-nocss] Oil, Fargo, N.D.; treasurer, Gerry Ramm, Inland Oil Co., Ephrata, Wash.; North Central Region chairman, Mike Ackerman, Ackerman Oil, Jasper, Ind.; Northeast Region chairman, Chris Keyser, Owner Services Inc., Proctor, Vt.; Southeast Region chairman, Bill McKnight, Automated Petroleum, Bradenton, Fla..

Lea Wilson, Washington Oil Marketers Association, was elected western regional association executive, and Vance McSpadden, Oklahoma Petroleum Marketers Association & Convenience Store Association, was elected south central region association executive.

Richard Oneslager, president CEO of Denver-based Balmar Petroleum/First Hand Management LLC, has been named 2007-08 chairman of the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), the Alexandria, Va.-based group said.

He also chairs the NACS Executive Committee, which provides strategic direction and financial oversight to the association.

Also named to the NACS Executive Committee were Sonja Hubbard, CEO of E-Z Mart Stores Inc., Texarkana, Texas, treasurer; Jeff Miller, president of Miller Oil Co. Inc., Norfolk, Va., vice chairman of member services, for a third term; Greg Parker, president of The Parker Cos. Savannah, Ga., vice chairman of research and technology, for a second term; Alvin New, president and CEO of Town & Country Food Stores Inc., San Angelo, Texas, vice chairman of NACSPAC, for a second term; Jay Ricker, president of Ricker Oil Co., Anderson, Ind., vice chairman of conventions and events, for a second term; and Tom Robinson, CEO of Robinson Oil Corp., San Jose, Calif., vice chairman of government relations.

Bruce F. Larson, president of Oscar W. Larson Co., Clarkston, Mich., has been elected to serve as the 58th president of the Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI), said the Tulsa, Okla.-based group.

Larson, who has been a PEI board member for two terms, vice president in 2007 and treasurer before that, was elected during PEI's annual convention at the NACS Show.

He has also served on PEI's Safety Committee, Contract Committee and is a member of the Republic 10-Group. Larson is also past president of the Detroit Oilmen's Club and the Michigan Petroleum Association's ad hoc UST Committee.

In other association news, former National Association of Truck Stop Operators (NATSO) chairman Howard M. Roe passed away in Topeka, Kansas. A longtime member of NATSO, Roe served as chairman in 1970-1971. He was active in many of NATSO's government affairs issues, testifying before Congress on behalf of NATSO on fuel tax evasion.
