Love's Adding First CNG Site in Natural State

Retailer's seventh fast-fill compressed natural gas fueling location to open in Arkansas

OKLAHOMA CITY --Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores Inc. is adding its seventh fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling site, located on I-40 at its West Memphis, Ark., travel center. This also marks the first Love's Travel Stop in Arkansas--coincidentally known as the Natural State--offering the alternative fuel.

"With the opening of this location, professional drivers and motorists can travel more than 1,300 miles along I-40 between West Memphis, Arkansas, and Williams, Arizona, using Love's CNG," said Frank Love, co-CEO of Love's Travel Stops. "Expanding our offerings along this major interstate, and others across the country, makes CNG a viable option for more types of trucking applications."

The fast-fill CNG will be installed by spring 2015, in-lane alongside diesel and diesel exhaust fuel (DEF). Drivers will experience a fill rate of more than 10 gallons per minute and will be able to fill up a 100-gallon-equivalent tank in 10 minutes or less, according to Love's.

Swift Transportation Corp., a Phoenix-based for-hire commercial carrier, will be one of the users of the West Memphis site. Swift Transportation ordered 200 CNG-powered trucks in 2013, and has been adding them to its fleet throughout 2014 to run routes in the Texas Triangle, California and Arizona.

"We've entrusted Love's for many years to provide us with a quality product for our diesel-powered trucks and this addition gives us the same level of reliability at another location for our CNG units," said Richard Stocking, president and COO of Swift Transportation. "As we add CNG trucks, it's imperative that we have access to dependable locations to fuel nationwide."

The West Memphis CNG site will be joining other Love's Travel Stops on I-40, including two already open in Oklahoma City. Sites in Amarillo, Texas; Williams, Ariz.; Albuquerque, N.M.; and Webbers Falls, Okla., are opening soon on the interstate corridor. Also coming soon: Love's Travel CNG fast-fill sites in Rockwall, San Antonio and Seguin, Texas; Burbank, Ohio; and Ardmore, Okla.

Family-owned and –operated Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores is based in Oklahoma City and has more than 330 locations and 200 Love's Truck Tire Care centers in 39 states.
