DENVER -- MapQuest, a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL Inc., has announced a month-long "Free Gas for a Year" sweepstakes timed to help ease budgets during the holiday season. MapQuest will be giving away free gasoline for a year to 31 people--one winner everyday during the month of December.
Winners will receive a $1,220 Visa Gift Card that may be used to purchase gasoline. The calculation is based on an estimated 12,000 miles driven per year (AAA), 23.1 MPG (AAA) and $2.35 per gallon (U.S. Energy Information Administration).
The promotion began on December 1 at 8:00 [image-nocss] a.m. ET. Consumers are invited to enter the sweepstakes atwww.freegas.mapquest.com and complete the "Free Gas for a Year" form.
Each day at 3:00 p.m. ET, MapQuest will choose a winner and will announce the winner on the site. The last day to enter the sweepstakes is December 31 at 5:00 p.m. ET. In addition to entering each day, contestants can increase their chances of winning by sharing with friends and family. By posting participation in the sweepstakes on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, contestants will receive an extra entry for each person, up to 25 people, that enter.
