JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Murphy USA Inc. is among nearly 20 retailers representing 30 gas stations and convenience stores in Iowa starting to offer E15 and E85 ethanol blends.
In cooperation with the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) and the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA), Murphy USA is holding grand opening events over the next few weeks, providing consumers with special fuel discounts, door prizes and free food with their fuel purchases.
"To launch its renewed commitment to homegrown, economical fueling options in Iowa, Murphy USA is also stepping up to offer even greater savings on E15 for 2001-and-newer vehicle owners and E85 for flex-fuel-vehicle [FFV] owners during its scheduled grand opening celebrations," said IRFA managing director Lucy Norton.
At the Murphy USA locations, customers will be able to purchase E15 for $2.15 per gallon and E85 for $1.85 per gallon.
The Murphy USA locations in Clinton, Davenport, Fort Dodge, Mason City and Sioux City will also offer biodiesel.
Starting Sept. 16, 30 gas stations and convenience stores in Iowa will be offering registered E15, according to the IRFA.
While several stations are in the process of registering, E15 is available for all 2001-and-newer vehicles at these locations:
- Aspinwall Cooperative, Manning.
- Cenex Ampride, Eagle Grove, Fort Dodge and Humboldt.
- East Central Iowa Cooperative, Hudson.
- Farm Service Cooperative, Harlan and Creston.
- Fast Stop, Cresco and Elkader.
- Fredericksburg Coop, Fredericksburg.
- Fuel Time, St. Ansgar.
- Good & Quick, Nevada.
- Grab & Go, Mapleton.
- K & H Coop Classic Stop, Algona and Mason City.
- Kountry Korner, Baxter.
- Linn Coop Oil, Marion.
- Murphy USA, Clinton, Davenport, Fort Dodge, Indianola, Mason City, Newton and Sioux City.
- Popke's Inc., Rock Rapids.
- Sperry One Stop, Coon Rapids.
- STAR Energy, Fort Dodge, Spencerand Storm Lake.
- Waukon Feed Ranch, Waukon.
El Dorado, Ark.-based Murphy USA is focused primarily on the marketing of retail fuel products and convenience store merchandise. It operates through a chain of approximately 1,190 retail fuel stations in 23 southern and Midwestern states. It owns the majority of the sites, and most are adjacent to Walmart stores.
