DALLAS -- The newest brand of independent gasoline in Texas, Cox Petrol, has opened another gas station. The newly branded station in Dallas is the fifth retail gasoline operation bearing the Cox Petrol brand.
The other four are at Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q locations in Frisco, Allen, Denton and Arlington, Texas,
The company said that it plans to convert 30 stations in North Texas to its brand over the next year.
With the tagline, "Evolving the Fuel Experience," Cox Petrol, which is based in Dallas, promises to make the gas-buying experience better for both the customers and the independent gas station owners, according to Michael Cox, vice president of sales for Cox Petrol.
"For consumers, buying gasoline is at best a chore that is often aggravated by dirty pumps and dirty restrooms," he said. "While for the station owners, the sale of gasoline is often only a breakeven part of their business at best.
Cox Petrol's new look and "aggressive" operational and marketing plans are calculated to change the pump experience for the consumer while helping the gas station owner increase sales and profits not only at the pump but in-store as well.
Cox noted that about 70% of people who buy gasoline at an independent convenience store do not go inside to purchase other products. "We plan to change that for our operators by initiating programs for them to capture sales from gas-only customers," Cox said.
Two of the new programs slated for implementation under the new fueling concept are Fender Vendor and Cox Fuel Friends. Fender Vendor allows customers to purchase sodas at the fuel pump while they are filling up their cars and pay for all of their purchases with one swipe of their credit card.
"You never even need to take young children out of their car seat," said Cox.
The Cox Fuel Friend is another way to demonstrate the company's "Good, Better, Best" commitment to make the experience under the Cox canopy an exceptional one. Both Cox Fuel Friends and Fender Vendor will be available during the next 60 days.
