Dresser Wayne debuts new retailer-friendly dispenser

AUSTIN, Texas -- Dresser Wayne's is calling its new Ovation iX fuel dispenser the next big thing in retail petroleumthe fuel dispenser that it said will actively help convenience store owners and fuel retailers drive sales, lower costs and improve accuracy and uptime.

The Ovation iX fuel dispenser is the most forward-thinking, retailer-friendly dispenser ever designed. Input from our customers significantly influenced the design and capabilities of this product, said Dan Harrell, Dresser Wayne's senior director of marketing and product management. In [image-nocss] order to remain competitive, our customers have a strong need for new fueling technologies that will help them lower costs as they continually seek new ways of marketing to their customer base. The Ovation iX dispenser is available with a suite of technology products specifically designed to lower total cost of ownership and drive revenue at petroleum retail locations.

Modeled on Dresser Wayne's Ovation dispenser, the Ovation iX product features a number of revenue-generating and cost-saving tools:

iX Media, which has an integrated 10.4-inch color display to allow retailers to show customized, full-motion video promotions. iX Media also features a built-in speaker and site-specific coupon creation capability. iSense remote management system, which can automatically diagnose, troubleshoot, and in some cases, actually fix equipment problemsoften even before they occur, the company said. iDPOS dispenser application, an in-dispenser point-of-sale (POS) system that guarantees uninterrupted fuel and merchandise sales by independently managing round-the-clock transactions and credit card saleseven if the in-store point-of-sale device is off-line. The Xflo Meter, a fuel meter so accurate that field installations show it virtually eliminates meter drift, said the company, annually saving sites thousands of dollars in lost fuel and meter recalibration costs.

The Ovation iX dispenser is powered by Dresser Wayne's iX Technology Platform. The platform is designed to work with both existing and future applications, partly the result of using a modern, open architecture design.

We designed the iX Technology Platform using an open architecture to ensure that it is compatible with current and future applications, practically offering customers unlimited product capabilities and offerings, said Harrell. It incorporates the Windows CE platform to optimize the dispenser's rich multimedia and full-motion video capabilities. Another key benefit to the platform is that it is compatible with any point-of-sale system that communicates with Dresser Wayne fuel dispensers.

Throughout development of the iX Technology Platform, Dresser Wayne collaborated with BSQUARE, a solution provider to the global embedded device community, on software and hardware development. BSQUARE is also a full-service provider, allowing Dresser Wayne to license best-in-class software products and operating systems, such as Windows CE.

The Ovation iX is a next-generation fuel dispenser taking advantage of the Microsoft Windows CE platform, said Brian Crowley, president and CEO of BSQUARE. For Dresser Wayne, OS backward compatibility to legacy devices as well as forward compatibility to the Ovation iX product line are key, so the Windows CE platform is an excellent fit.
