PEI Names Successor to Renkes

Fuel-equipment association names Long to executive, legal positions

TULSA, OKLA. -- The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) has named a successor to its long-serving executive vice president and general counsel.

Rick Long Petroleum Equipment Institute PEI

PEI, an association of fuel and fluid-handling equipment manufacturers based in Tulsa, Okla., named Rick Long to the roles, effective June 1, 2017. Since 2009, Long has served as general manager of PEI, and he also is the editor-in-chief of PEIJournal and associate general counsel.

He replaces Bob Renkes, who is retiring from PEI on May 31, 2017, as executive vice president and general counsel after 38 years with the association.

“PEI is fortunate to be able to maintain continuity in only the second leadership transition in the association’s 65-year history,” said Steve Trabilsy, president of PEI. “We are pleased that Rick Long will be taking over as executive vice president and general counsel when Bob Renkes leaves PEI. Rick brings a great deal of experience to the job and has been a strong leader throughout his time at PEI.”

Long has a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University and a juris doctorate from The University of Texas School of Law. Before joining PEI, he practiced corporate law and launched a strategic communications firm.

“I’m deeply honored to follow Howard Upton and Bob Renkes as the third executive vice president and general counsel in PEI’s exceptional history,” Long said. “Thanks to our dedicated officers, directors, volunteer leaders and staff, PEI has built a record of exceptional service to our members and lasting contributions to the industry. In the days ahead, I am confident that we will expand on that record, even as the world in which PEI members operate continues to evolve.”
