CAMARILLO, Calif. -- The June 11 U.S. average retail regular grade gasoline price is $2.7153 per gallon , down 11.26 cents from three weeks ago, according to the most recentLundberg Survey of approximately 2,500 U.S. gas stations. Combined with the earlier two-week drop, the price is down just shy of 21 cents since May 7.
Retail diesel is down 9 cents, to $3.00 per gallon.
Gasoline consumers are paying just six cents more than they did one year ago. But diesel motorists are still coping with a 35-cent [image-nocss] premium over their year-ago price. For the economy, the gasoline year-ago level helps, but the diesel year-ago level hurts.
If crude oil prices, bolstered a little of late in part because traders view the offshore drilling moratorium as a negative for future oil supply, do not change dramatically in either direction, we may have relatively stable retail fuel prices in coming weeks.
