Some K.C. Phillips 66s Stop Pumping

"Financial difficulties" reportedly lead to bagged nozzles at PCF Saleco sites

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Several Phillips 66-branded gas stations in Kansas City owned by PCF Saleco LLC have temporarily shut down due to "financial difficulties," reported Fox affiliate WDAF-TV.

In Kansas City, several Phillips 66 locations were reportedly not selling fuel on Monday, the report said. Calls to several stations by the news outlet were answered with "no comment," it said; however, observers saw yellow bags on pumps at several locations indicating that the sites were not selling gasoline.

According to the report, notes taped to pumps read: "We are out of midgrade and regular unleaded fuel at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience."

WDAF confirmed that three stations were not selling midgrade and regular unleaded fuel; it also confirmed that three additional stations will not be selling gasoline for a week.

Alissa Hicks with Houston-based Phillips 66 Co., which recently spun off from ConocoPhillips, told WDAF that PCF Saleco owns Phillips 66 gas stations and PCF Saleco is having financial difficulties. Because of that, they are choosing to close some of their stores temporarily.

And although Phillips 66 announced Sunday night it would suspend operations at its 247,000-barrels-per-day Alliance refinery in Belle Chasse, La., before Tropical Storm Isaac made landfall, that situation is unrelated to PCF Saleco's issues, Hicks told CSP Daily News.

Executives with PCF Saleco did not respond to a CSP Daily News request for comments on the matter by press time. An employee answering the phone at the corporate headquarters confirmed that the company has stations in Kansas.
