Spirit Opens First N.J. Site

Garden State location licensed by Prestige Petroleum

NEW HOPE, Pa. -- Spirit Petroleum said that it has opened its first site in New Jersey. Station owner Joseph Costello, in partnership with his sons Michael and Gene, converted his site on in Ringwood, N.J., to the Spirit brand as of April 12. The station is licensed through Prestige Petroleum, a motor fuels distributor based in Mahwah, N.J.

"This first site in the Garden State is significant for us as it provides an entry into the Northeast," said Vera Haskins, president of Spirit Petroleum, which now has licensees in 25 states.

Prestige Petroleum's founder William R. Fagan said, "[image-nocss] We were looking for an alternative brand for those smaller businesses that want to affordably present themselves as friendly to their local communities with a patriotic and proud American image. With red, white and blue colors and the Eagle logo, Spirit provides retailers an image that delivers this important message to customers: 'We are one of you'."

Fagan also said he values Spirit's affiliation with the nonprofit Petroleum Marketers Association of America (PMAA). "It is refreshing to hear of a company designed specifically to provide the tools marketers need in order to stay aggressive in this ever-changing business," he added.

A distributor of both branded and unbranded gasoline and diesel fuel, Prestige Petroleum said it strives to find new ideas and options for its customers. Fagan brings more than 50 years of petroleum industry experience to the market.

Spirit Petroleum was created to present a positive alternative to qualifying members of PMAA's 46 state associations. It has been embraced by marketers nationwide, with licensed sites in states from coast to coast. More than half of the licensees have branded multiple locations.
