Warrenton Oil Grocery Store Closes

Stater Bros. opens supermarket with Chevron station

O'FALLON, Mo. -- Warrenton Oil Co.'s attempt to revitalize a WingHaven community grocery store has come to an end. The Marketplace by Fastlane closed Sunday, reported The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

As of last week, Warrenton Oil was still in control of the space. The developer is reportedly considering options on how to move forward marketing the 6,5000-square-foot property, including splitting the store up for different use.

The Marketplace by Fastlane was Warrenton Oil's first foray into the specialty grocery market. The company owns and operates gas stations and Fastlane convenience [image-nocss] stores in east central and mid-Missouri, as well as car wash and hotel properties throughout Missouri.

The store was the second attempt at making a grocer viable in WingHaven, a community in O'Fallon, Mo., said the report. The first try at an old-time grocery store was Dave's on the Boardwalk, which opened in April 2003 and closed its doors in the autumn of 2005.

Separately, San Bernardino, Calif.-based Stater Bros. Markets has broken ground on a new Stater Bros. Supermarket in Cathedral City, Calif., that will feature a Starbuck's, a Carl's Jr. and a Chevron station.
