Weigel’s Giving 12 Customers Free Gas for a Year

Drawing tied to chain’s new loyalty program, which launched this March

POWELL, Tenn. -- The Weigel’s convenience-store chain is giving 12 lucky users of its myWeigel’s Rewards loyalty program free gas for a year.

Kathleen Hooker (pictured) was the first winner to be selected via a random drawing for using the card.

“We are excited to be giving away free gas for a year,” said Kurt Weigel, human resources director for Weigel’s. “Our loyalty program is designed to reward our biggest and most loyal fans.”

Weigel’s launched its new loyalty program on March 12. Customers who sign up receive a Basic Reward Card that tracks milk purchases (the 17th gallon is free) and issues monthly freebies, surprise coupons and birthday gifts. Customers can get up to 10 cents off per gallon of their fuel purchases if they convert their Basic Reward Card to a Preferred Payment Club Card, which is linked to a checking account and acts as a form of an electronic check with a secured user ID for verification and protection.

“I’m a longtime participant of the gallon milk club. And with this new program they launched, I’m also able to get great instant discounts on stuff I buy in the store,” Hooker said.

Weigel’s operates 66 c-stores, a dairy and a bakery, all within a 100-mile radius of its corporate headquarters in Powell, Tenn.
