ROCKFORD, Mich. -- J & H Family Stores, a division of J & H Oil Co., has completed implementation of PriceAdvantage at its 40th convenience store. J & H Family Stores uses PriceAdvantage to support and execute its fuel pricing strategy, including gathering and analyzing competitive pricing data; instant access to real-time volumes, margins and replacement costs; automating price changes to Gilbarco point-of-sale (POS) software and its gas price signs; and generating executive performance reports.

In business since 1969, Rockford, Mich.-based J & H is a family-owned and -operated company that supplies fuel and lubricants to 100 retails sites, including its 40 company-operated convenience stores in western Michigan.

J & H Family Stores began installing PriceAdvantage in January 2014 to support their overall pricing strategy, including increasing the speed at which competitive data is collected and analyzed, new prices are established and communicated to stores and price change confirmation is communicated back to headquarters. J & H uses the PriceAdvantage hosted, or cloud-based option, which reduces upfront hardware and software costs and increases the speed at which the software is implemented. In addition, J & H leverages the PriceAdvantage mobile component, which allows them to make fuel pricing decisions o the go from any mobile device or tablet.

The company said PriceAdvantage provides robust data regarding market and store performance, enabling them to immediately respond to market fluctuations. The price change processes, which previously took hours, now just take minutes to complete.

"With PriceAdvantage, we are not pushed into a cookie-cutter approach to fuel pricing. My team can incorporate detailed business rules for each location which support our overall pricing strategy. The tool then provides additional pricing data which we use to validate our strategy. It simply works," said Craig Hoppen, president of J & H Oil.

A division of Skyline Products Inc., Colorado Springs, Colo.-based PriceAdvantage helps dealer and company-owned convenience stores make informed fuel pricing decisions in less time by combining performance and competitive analysis with local area knowledge. PriceAdvantage offers a complete end-to-end fuel price change execution software solution. The software automates the entire fuel pricing process from collecting competitive information, to performing analysis for best price determination, to executing rapid speed-to-the-street price changes with price change confirmation feedback.
