BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The mobile fueling service FuelFox is adding subscription-based fill-ups for consumers in the Birmingham, Ala., market.

FuelFox launched this past summer in Birmingham, providing fuel deliveries to local fleets. It is now adding individual fill-ups of 87 and 93 octane gasoline as well as vehicle services through its new app. After downloading and registering at the FuelFox app, consumers can order four fill-ups per month, or one per week, through a $20 monthly or $220 annual subscription fee, plus the cost of gas. Fuel prices are based on the AAA average for the county. FuelFox also offers a $40-per-month family membership in which up to five individuals can receive fill-ups.

Members get a reminder the night before and the day of the scheduled fill-up. FuelFox also provides windshield cleaning and tire checks.

One twist of FuelFox’s consumer service is that, during the day, it provides the individual fueling at set days and times each week at dedicated locations, or “Fox Spots,” which include high-density, highly trafficked areas such as office buildings, gyms, malls, apartment, airports and schools. FuelFox posts the weekly fueling schedules on its app and website. Businesses can request to become a Fox Spot, and have FuelFox visit their site each week at a specific time to fill up employees' vehicles. At night, FuelFox makes fuel deliveries directly to fleets.

FuelFox “ambassadors” conduct the service. These employees are firefighters with hazardous materials training and certification, according to the company. (The mobile fueling industry has been criticized in the past for possibly skirting local fire safety regulations.)

FuelFox currently services the Birmingham market neighborhoods of Adamsville, Alabaster, Bessemer, Center Point, Fultondale, Gardendale, Homewood, Hoover, Hueytown, Irondale, Leeds, Mountain Brook, Pelham, Trussville and Vestavia Hills.

It joins other mobile fueling providers that have expanded in the past year to serve both fleet and individual customers, including Yoshi, Filld and Booster Fuels
