Aloha Petroleum Helps Red Cross

Latest canister program yields more than $7,300 for organization’s Hawaii chapter

HONOLULU --Aloha Petroleum Ltd. recently presented $7,337.92 to the American Red Cross Hawaii Chapter to support the organization’s work to help prevent and prepare for emergencies and provide support to military families throughout the islands and around the world.

Aloha Petroleum’s customers donated the funds through the in-store canister program at participating Aloha Island Mart convenience stores statewide in March and April.

“Time after time, we’re pleasantly surprised by the generosity of our customers. Their commitment to give back to the communities in which they live and work makes a tremendous difference,” said Richard Parry, president and CEO of Aloha Petroleum. “We’re proud, once again, to support American Red Cross’ efforts in this way.”

The American Red Cross Hawaii Chapter has existed since 1917, but the organization’s humanitarian work began as early as 1898, when 300 women, including Princess Kaiulani, cared for sick and wounded soldiers en route from the Philippines during the Spanish American War. Today, the organization is committed to ensuring that its people, programs and services reflect the diversity of the people and communities of Hawaii.

Aloha Petroleum has previously used its collection canister program to support numerous other non-profits, including March of Dimes, Aloha Harvest, American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.

Aloha Petroleum is a subsidiary of Sunoco LP and one of the largest gasoline marketers and convenience store operators in the state of Hawaii, with a history that dates back to the early 1900s. Aloha employs more than 550 Hawaii residents and markets through approximately 100 Shell, Aloha, and Mahalo branded fueling stations and 46 Aloha Island Mart convenience stores throughout the state.
